Estates

In order for Eklutna, Inc. to process estates timely when a Shareholder passes we need to gather the necessary information to settle the estate.

When there is not a Will on file, we have trouble locating heirs, or heirs or non-responsive, this may delay settlement of the Estate.

Family members may notify Shareholder Relations of a Shareholder death:

• Email: shareholderrelations@eklutnainc.com

• Phone: 907-696-2828

Shareholder Relations will then open an estate file. Since a death certificate is needed to move forward with processing an estate, we generally wait 30 days from the date of death before sending a request for information and a relatives of decedent form to known family members. We ask for this information for various reasons:

• Shareholder Relations may or may not have a Will on file;

• We need to verify we have the most current information on file;

• If there is no Will on file and no family members can produce a valid Will, we will need all known family member information to process the Estate via the Laws of Intestate.

If a Shareholder’s Estate is subject to the Share Fractionalization policy and lottery processes, this can further delay settlement of an estate.
